7 killed in Jalpaiguri accidents

JALPAIGURI: Seven persons were killed in two different accidents in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday. In the first accident, three persons were killed near the Teesta canal at Kathambari under Kranti police outpost on Tuesday morning. The victims have been identified as Gausa Islam (30), Atosh Roy (29) and Vikram Chhetri (23), all residents of Malbazar.

The three were coming to Kranti on a motorcycle to take part in a cricket match. In a bid to overtake a vehicle, the bike fell in front of a truck coming from the opposite direction. The three died on the spot. In another accident, a Tata Indica collided head on with a truck at Dashdargah, some 12 km from Jalpaiguri, killing four persons and leaving another injured.
