Five of family die in accident

Five persons were killed when their Verna car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Lehra Saunda village.

The Rampura-based family was returning home after a wedding in Bathinda when the accident took place around 6 am on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Sushil Kumar (28), his wife Chandni (25), their two-year-old daughter, Sushil’s mother Reshma Devi (50) and his cousin Jimmi (22).

Those who were at the accident site said Sushil, who was driving the car, might have dozed off and crashed into the truck.

The impact of the collision was such that the car condensed into scrap and the truck overturned.

The police said a case would be registered.
